To visit Guérande is to travel back in time. Its wall, more than a kilometer long, and its half-timbered houses will transport you immediately to the Middle Ages. Discover with your private guide how the salt trade made its inhabitants prosper and led them to build magnificent buildings that have survived the centuries, such as the Saint-Aubin Collegiate Church. Saint-Nazaire is a city with fascinating history and architecture. Starting as a small fishing village located at the mouth of the Loire River underwent a great expansion in the 19th century when it became the outport of Nantes, then the construction site of some of the most prestigious transatlantic ships. During the Second World War, almost 90% was destroyed by the bombing of the Allied troops in order to destroy the German submarine base. This concrete behemoth still exists today and has become the heart of a project that has seen Saint-Nazaire get a new lease on life since the 1990s. With your private guide, discover its unique architecture, luxurious seaside villas, industrial heritage sites, blockhouses, modernist and resolutely contemporary structures.
From the 1850’s, La Baule developed under the impulse of the bourgeoisie and the aristocracy. It was at this time that its magnificent villas and mythical palaces were built, places of vacation for a wealthy population, which still make its reputation today. The sixties saw the development of a modernist architecture based on the use of concrete, which allowed less fortunate classes to come and enjoy the charms of one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Discover with your private guide the evolution of the architecture of the beach in La Baule, then like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, end your day with a shopping session on the Avenue du Général de Gaulle.
